Fault code 68 showing

2006-07-23 11:00:00

Last weekend, the car stuttered and then cut out whilst on a dual carriage way, but strangely, the car restarted after about 30 seconds and has been fine since. It has displayed an intermittence splutter at between 2000 and 3000 rpm, so something must not be quite right.

I checked for fault codes this morning and found that number 68 is showing. This is defined as 'road speed sensor output too low at medium rpm and high airflow' and can indicate a possible sensor or wiring fault. The sensor sends a signal to both the ECU and the speedo - my speedo is working as normal however.

I plan to adjust the base idle screw, reset the ECU, and then leave the car to idle until the fans kick in, so that the ECU learns the correct trim value, and see how the car gets on over the next week or so. If the problem persists, it will be looked at during it's service which is due in the next month or so.
