Costs

Running a TVR is not cheap. Petrol is the most obvious cost. While the Chimaera can return around 24mpg, in normal driving i only manage about 17mpg. On a track day last year i got just 9mpg. Then there is insurance to consider, though this may not be as steep as you might think. My Chimaera 400 is actually cheaper to insure than a similarly priced Nissan Skyline GTR or Mitsubishi Evo VI.

However, a hand-built, high performance sports car takes a lot of maintenance. A service costs around £500-1000 though there will almost always be parts that need replacing that will increase the bill. A budget of £3-4k for a servicing and parts alone is a good estimate.

Below you'll find a summary of costs i have incurred since i bought my car on 4th November 2003.
